This has to be one of my favorite songs. Let me tell you the short version of the story behind it for me.
When I was diagnosed with diabetes in 1972 I ended up spending 2 weeks (long, boring, lonely weeks) in a hospital ward in Ireland while my blood sugars were balanced and I was taught about diabetes and diet and so on.
A good friend of my Mum's gave me a gift of Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits on cassette tape. During the 2 weeks in hospital I spent a lot of time listening to the entire tape.
Kathy's Song is one of my favorites from this album. Even today I can hardly stand to think about it. But I still love that song.
love you too, alish. looking forward to the balloons!
bernard - bittersweet, I guess. It seems to be a song that is special to a lot of people. Thanks for sharing your story.
